  An Expert Committee on the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in Indian Railways has been set up under the chairmanship of Sh. Sam Pitroda. The objectives of the Committee are to recommend measures by which ICT can be used effectively in the Railways to improve services. In order to obtain inputs from a wide spectrum of Railway users, a Discussion Forum has been set up. You are invited to give your opinions and comments through this Discussion Forum. Your comments will be displayed on the forum and useful ones will be discussed by the Committee.
Ms Mamata Banerjee, Minister of Railways, said: “I propose to constitute an expert committee, headed by Mr Sam Pitroda, the key person behind the telecom revolution in the country.
The Committee will suggest further innovations to utilise the optical fibre cables network of the Railways and take information technology to remote areas.”
